OUTFRONT's OAAA Future Leaders Reflect on Their Experiences

July 31, 2025

Each year, the OAAA’s Future Leaders program honors rising stars in the out of home advertising industry, individuals who are not only excelling in their roles but also shaping the future of the field. This year, OUTFRONT is proud to celebrate two of our own creative powerhouses: Jake Beaven-Parshall, Art Director, and Alexis Caban, Senior Art Director, both from STUDIOS, our award-winning in-house creative agency.

As a past honoree myself, I know how meaningful Future Leaders recognition can be. It’s more than a title – it’s a moment to reflect, connect, and envision what’s next. I caught up with Jake and Alexis after their experience at the OAAA Media Conference in Boston to hear about their journey and what this honor means to them.

Meet the Future Leaders

A Moment of Recognition

When Jake learned he had been selected as a 2025 OAAA Future Leader, he was “beyond excited and incredibly honored” to be chosen for what he called an “invaluable opportunity.”

Alexis echoed the excitement while admitting to feeling a little nervous at first. “The pool of talent was definitely impressive, which was intimidating,” she said, “but I couldn’t wait to connect with other professionals in the OOH industry and learn from their experiences.”

Immersed in Inspiration

The OAAA’s OOH Media Conference is a cornerstone event for the OOH industry, bringing together thought leaders, innovators, and rising talent. For Jake and Alexis, it was a chance to immerse themselves in the latest trends—especially those shaping creative storytelling in OOH.

“As a creative professional, attending the conference meant a lot,” Jake shared. “In an industry driven by creativity, the creatives don’t always have a seat at the table. Being there gave me the chance not just to be seen and heard, but to listen and learn about all facets of this ever-changing industry."

Alexis found the experience equally energizing. “Inspiration often comes from stepping outside your usual environment,” she said. “Traveling to Boston, soaking in the culture, and meeting fellow professionals from across the country was incredibly inspiring. It really helped get those creative juices flowing.”

The Power of Mentorship

One of the most meaningful parts of my own journey as a Future Leader was participating in the OAAA’s partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. I had the opportunity to mentor two college students interested in design and media, helping them explore the creative side of OOH. It was a full-circle moment – proof that this program isn’t just about professional growth, but about giving back and lifting others as we climb.

Here’s a highlight video demonstrating the impact of this mentorship initiative in action:

Jake and Alexis also expressed how impactful it was to connect with mentors and peers throughout the program. The shared wisdom and encouragement helped them see their work – and their potential – in a new light.

Creativity at the Core

Both Jake and Alexis walked away from the conference with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper appreciation for creativity.

“I’ve always believed that creativity plays a crucial role in OOH,” Alexis explained. “You can buy the best location, but without great creative, it all just falls flat. OOH is bold and unavoidable—it’s the medium you can’t turn off. This experience has only strengthened my belief in the power of thoughtful, strategic campaigns.”

Jake agreed, adding that being part of STUDIOS during this moment of transformation in the industry feels especially meaningful. “Creative drives success in out of home, and OUTFRONT leads the way when it comes to elevating and investing in creative. We’re empowered with new tools and technology, and our work is recognized as essential—not just for our clients, but for the industry at large.”

Looking Ahead

The Future Leaders program doesn’t just offer recognition – it creates momentum. I asked Jake and Alexis what’s next for them and what advice they’d offer to others considering the program.

“Just do it!” Jake said. “It’s an incredible experience. The access to peers and leaders across the industry and the connections you make will leave you feeling renewed and excited about OOH. If you’re selected, take advantage of everything the conference has to offer. Go to the networking events, attend the panels and breakout sessions, and stay hydrated!"

Alexis added, “APPLY! Being a Future Leaders delegate has been such a valuable experience. It gave me the opportunity to connect with passionate OOH professionals I might not have crossed paths with otherwise. The insights and support from mentors were incredibly inspiring. If you’re curious about growing your career in OOH, this is an amazing space to learn, connect, and lead.”

As for what’s next, Alexis is excited to keep evolving. “After over 15 years in design—spanning everything from iconic annual events to packaging and OOH—I’m especially inspired by AI and its potential to spark ideas. I’m looking forward to applying it more intentionally in my role at OUTFRONT to shape bold, forward-thinking campaigns.”

Celebrating the Future

Jake and Alexis represent the best of what’s next in out of home and we’re lucky to have them here at OUTFRONT. Their passion, insight, and creative leadership are already making an impact, and we can’t wait to see where their journeys take them next.

Let’s give them a round of applause—and keep cheering on the future of our industry.
